Closing Psiko Sinema Fest : Dramatic

12:52 AM

This is the first intimate gig I attend in 2013. I didn't count Love Garage as an intimate gigs, anyway.

Psikosinema Festival is a movie screening, maybe we could call it film festival too. The screening held on February 11th - 16th, and the closing event held on February 16th. They made a music gigs for the closing which enlivened by The Experience Brothers, L'Alphalpha, and Payung Teduh. The event held at Salihara. It's been a while since the last time I've been to Salihara, I entered the room and found a several changes. No more stage and now there's terraced seats. I suspected it's temporary maybe only for this event and another event at Salihara during the month. That terraced seats won't be there forever. But, I didn't know. The interior of the venue was simply beautiful. They put Christmas decoration lights around the area of the band and their equipments. And a big screen behind the 'stage' that screened a movie while the band did the sound check. Good way to divert the audiences attention so we didn't get bored. Nice one. I think I could use that concept to my event next time :p

Oh before I entered the room, on the checking door, they took away my pocket camera. No camera allowed, they said. WHAT?? NOT EVEN POCKET?? Yes, not even pocket. That was heart breaking. When I entered the room and saw that beautiful intimate atmosphere, and remembered my pocket camera, my heart torn into peaces. I mean, if it was DSLR or other professional stuffs, it's understandable. But it was a pocket camera. ONLY a pocket camera! And since my phone's camera wasn't reliable, so my plan of stage photographs hunting was drift to the trash instantly.

But, at the same time I was such a lucky bitch, too. I came with my two friends, upper row was almost full, we didn't want to sit separated. The only row that had three empty seats was the first row, right in front of the 'stage'. We took that seats. It was a golden position, I claimed. We were worried, whether we could took that seats or not, but we sat anyway. Haha. Speculations crossed our mind; "this is a VIP row, for the performers and the performers' friends only". "This is a media row, only for journalist". But, still, we sat anyway.

The bands were playing in front of our nose. There were Hasief and Remedy Waloni next to us and there was Dimas Wisnuwardono in front of us, sitting on the floor, capturing moment. And when L'Alphalpha was playing, they 'invite' the audience to play by lending some toys. Yudis gave me one of the music equipment, I didn't know what its name. I was definitely glad. What a golden position, wasn't it? Still, I want my pocket! :|

Next

The first performer of the night was The Experience Brothers. But, I was late so I didn't see their performance. BIG REGRET indeed. Because I actually only wanted to see their performance; the sexy voice of Bram and crazy drum play of Daud. Aaaaarrrrgh.

The next performer was L'Alphalpha. I like them. Their music, performance, and even the communication with the audience was all fun. I really enjoy seeing them on 'stage'. Playing music and playing those toys. They played some new songs, too. And at the end of the performance, they make a collaboration with The Experience Brothers (OH THANK GOD!) and play Sore's song, Janji Joni's soundtrack. I didn't see The Experience Brothers performance and that collaboration was healing. Hihi. Nice way to end the performance.

The last performer was Payung Teduh. It's been months since the last time I saw them live. Not much changing, almost still the same. Slow swinging tunes, beautiful lyrics in bahasa, also the humbleness. Still the same. The changing maybe, now Is is better in communication with the audience and Ivan now plays trumpet, too. The crowd was good! I heard choir behind me, not so loud but I could hear some of them sang along. Everyone was into Payung Teduh performance. Until suddenly, when they played 'Kita adalah Sisa-Sisa Keikhlasan yang Tak Diikhlaskan' the room turned out black for couple seconds. Trouble with the electricity, I guessed. But, Is kept singing. The crowds helped him sang. Then the decoration turn on again. Only the lights, the sound of the guitar, the voice of the crowd. DRAMATIC!

Over all, I claimed this event as a dramatic intimate gigs. The lights; the decorations and the stage lights was beautiful. The room setting was pretty comfortable. The sound was the champion of the night. For me, Salihara, is one of the places that has THE BEST SOUND in Jakarta, besides Upper Room. So fvcking clear. I could hear every single word the vocalist sang. I could hear the sound of every single equipment they played. I've come to Salihara several times, to see music performances and it's always like that. That clear. The best one ever.

I enjoyed the night. Really. But the disappointment of could not take my pocket camera in still lingered until the day I wrote this post. NO PHOTOS IN THIS POST then :(

Cheers and Beer,
